Discover McMinn Debuts New Website and Branding Materials to Attract Tourists From Tennessee and Beyond

The Events Calendar and Itineraries Make It Easier for Visitors to Plan Their Trips

MCMINN COUNTY, TN—The McMinn County Economic Development Authority (EDA) has launched a new tourism website, DiscoverMcMinn.com, created in partnership with Golden Shovel Agency. The website will be valuable for attracting people looking to relax in Southeast Tennessee and sharing events and activities they can enjoy during their vacations.  

“We are thrilled with the user-friendliness of the website,” says Brianna Baker, Tourism Coordinator for Discover McMinn. “The icons make it easy to navigate various pages so users can find exactly what they need.”

One feature that immediately stands out on the Discover McMinn page is the ice cream logo. This is a nod to the dairy industry in McMinn County, which is home to Mayfield Dairy Farms. Along with touring the Mayfield Dairy Visitor Center, tourists can also explore the “Scoop Loop” and visit different restaurants and ice cream shops around McMinn County to enjoy their favorite flavors.

“Ice cream makes everyone happy,” says Baker. “Ice cream is happiness, and we wanted our logo to make people happy.”

Along with evoking positive emotions like happiness, fun, and joy, the team at Discover McMinn prioritized creating a calendar of events where local businesses can share what’s happening around the region. This pairs with the creative itineraries that guide visitors through sample daytrips and weekend getaways to McMinn County.

“If you’re visiting McMinn County for the first time, this website will highlight where you can stay, what you can eat, and what is going on,” says Baker. “The ready-made itineraries provide a local’s perspective. The things to do and places to go are true stories. They’re where we like to go and what we recommend to others.”

Baker highlights the value of getting all your information from one place when planning a getaway. She says businesses across McMinn County do a great job promoting themselves, but it can be hard for visitors to discover them. This new website will create another channel for local business promotion.

The McMinn County EDA worked closely with Golden Shovel Agency on the website development process. This is part of a continued partnership with the full-service economic development communications firm to support McMinn County’s content, SEO, social media, and digital efforts. Golden Shovel Agency will support both the McMinn County economic development and tourism departments, and recognizes the value tourism plays in small business support, resident attraction, and long-term growth.

“Designing a website with Golden Shovel Agency has been a great process,” says Baker. “Having input from an outside organization helped us develop an identity while taking all the special things about McMinn County and putting them in one place. I’ve worked with clients and employers to build websites for the past four years, and this was the easiest one to develop. The Golden Shovel Agency team listened to what we wanted and executed our vision.”
