Prof. Powers Park (formerly Knox Park) is a community park in Athens offering a variety of recreational amenities for all ages. The park features a 0.37-mile paved walking trail around a scenic fishing pond, an 18-hole putt-putt golf course, a youth baseball/softball field, a picnic pavilion (with 8 tables, seating ~80) for gatherings, and a playground with swings and slides. In addition, the park is home to the “Prof. Powers Pup Park” – a fenced dog park section for off-leash play – making it a one-stop destination for family recreation, sports, and pet exercise. With its mix of trails, sports facilities, and even mini-golf, Prof. Powers Park is a beloved local park where admission and use of all facilities are free. It is open daily from dawn until dusk.
