Couples looking for a charming wedding venue that specializes in hospitality in Tennessee can tour The Barn at Faith Farms. The venue supports events ranging from 20-person microweddings to 400-person parties. The owners, James and Marissa Lowry, add to the venue each year, investing in amenities and options to create the perfect wedding experience.
“We host mostly weddings, but can also accommodate birthdays, reunions, fundraisers, and other events,” says Marissa. “We have homes on site for overnight accommodations as well, which is perfect for destination weddings.”
The Lowrys didn’t set out to create a wedding venue, but the Barn at Faith Farms has become a favorite option for countless couples. It continues to offer picturesque backgrounds for saying “I do” on your big day.
The Lowrys Were the First Couple Married on the Land
Ten years ago, James Lowry purchased the land for use as a working farm and to build their home. James and Marissa were married under the Osage orange tree and invited everyone they knew.
“With the wedding being on our land, we decided to invite everyone we knew!” says Marissa. “Everything was DIY – which I don’t recommend – and 400 people came out. It was great exposure for us! We began booking weddings not long after our wedding and knew it was meant to be.”
You can hear the laughter in Marissa’s voice as she recounts her attempt to DIY an event for 400 people, with no prior wedding-planning experience. She and James decided to open a venue and started hosting weddings. Ten years later, the Lowrys offer a luxury wedding option for couples who want to exchange vows in the picturesque Tennessee countryside.
“We weren’t planning this adventure, but so glad God placed this in our hearts,” Marissa says.
They’ve Built a Lot Over the Past Decade
There are multiple options for couples considering the Barn at Faith Farms. The Lowrys still hold weddings under their Osage orange tree (one couple even used the fruit in their centerpieces), but they also have a fireplace ceremony site that offers an outdoor yet covered experience. There’s even a small atrium to accommodate wedding receptions and more intimate parties with 40 to 50 people.
Each year, the Lowrys add to the venue based on feedback from bridal parties and their own ideas. These amenities make the venue more comfortable while offering additional photo and celebration options. A few additions over the years include:
- The bridal cottage and groom's house (each of which has two bedrooms and full bathrooms, plus a full kitchen and living room).
- A gazebo out front that can be used to greet guests, smaller ceremonies, photograph first looks, and send off the couple.
- Heating and cooling systems, which are essential for year-round events.
- A new pond, which adds a new ceremony site, a cocktail hour, and a place for guests to hang out.
- Another home for accommodation, which can sleep between 12 and 15 people.
- Linens, centerpiece options, table decor, plus draping and lighting in the venue.
“We are booking more destination weddings, and providing more amenities and accommodations is important to our clients,” says Lowry.
Couples Are Required to Have a Coordinator
Marissa has learned from her DIY days and highly recommends that any bride work with a coordinator or wedding planner. The Barn at Faith Farms handpicks coordinators for its brides and grooms to provide a seamless wedding experience!
“We want to alleviate stress off the bride and groom,” says Marissa. “Our staff works behind the scenes preparing for each special day, cleaning and setting up all we provide.” “When the couple arrives, they head off to get ready, and our venue managers and coordinators take it from there. We want our guests to relax and enjoy their special day.”
The Lowrys pride themselves on offering exceptional customer service so couples can relax and focus on each other and their families. There is always someone on-site to help, and their team handles all of the setup, take-down, and details in between. The Barn at Faith Farms also has a trusted list of vendors for couples looking for local caterers and other service providers.
